I made a quick trip up to the Moreno Valley -outside Riverside on the 215, where the population is primarily hispanic and has yet to be tapped on these boards for some comida.
I am doubtful of the usefulness of this post because of its location in the chow 'wilderness' but if you are in to old planes - you might stop by after a trip to March AFB. But here you go anyway:
I recived a tip from a friend who owns a Mexican restaurant in Temecula - apparently he does his shopping here- Fiesta Foods Wherehouse - for the restaurant.
The grocery store is located on Allesandro and Perris Blvd.
When you first enter - you are surrounded by a Mexican food court with different offerings. One specializes in just the roasted meats- buche, carnitas, birria etc
Another Guisados (great selection)
Another Antojitos - huaraches, sopes etc.
Tortilleria in Action
Jugos, Aguas Frescas, raspados
Sausage case ( Note: El salvadoran, corn husk tied Chorizo)
Gorgeous Pan Dulce huge case
Then towards the back is the fish counter and deli - and even a lady with her own stand and meat slicer just cutting Fud products.
The produce section is the best I have seen as well. I bought some gorgeous juicy limes, huge tomatillos and my *First* Mexican avocados from Michoachan.
I would have taken more pictures - except I was caught by a manager I assume as I was taken a picture of the Mariscos section. When I explained myself to him - he turned out to be pretty cool and we struck up a long food-based conversation. I promised him I wouldnt take anymore however.
