Mermaid Inn UWS-Quick Review

harrison | Feb 9, 2008 02:08 PM

Despite some dissent on this board, we gave Mermaid Inn a shot with some friends last night. Overall, I thought it was pretty good, despite the deafening noise.

For apps we had some oysters - mix of west coast but I don't remember exact names - the pekytoe crab dip and grilled calamari salad which was the biggest hit.

for mains, i had a special pan roasted fluke over spaghetti squash topped with a light pesto, my wife had the paella which was ok, but a little oversalted. friends had the fluke and one opted for the whole grilled fish which he enjoyed.

of course the chocolate pudding at the end always pleases. server brought my pregnant wife an extra one without prompting (saved me a kozy shack run!)

in the future, i may go a little earlier in hopes of it being even a bit quieter! it's my 42nd birthday today and clearly i'm getting old! with a 4 cocktails bill was $185 w/ tax pre tip.

all in all, a solid addition to neighborhood since it's a bit more casual than neptune room.

birthday dinner tonight at Ouest - will report back.
