Meritage on a Saturday Night at 5:30pm

A good choice for us tonight. Convenient validated parking in a garage 1/2 a block up Lombard
from the corner with 20th St. We were the first patrons, had attentive service, most quiet for about 45 minutes, and ok after that when more patrons came.

I took Sylviag's suggestions on the foie gras raviolis--tasty, different; quite good. Hubby and I
each chose the soup special--vegan cauliflower soup that had crunchy bits of something on top.
I had never eaten skate before, I must have confused it with skate wing, but in any case, it was
tasty and nicely presented with spinach, and more crunchies atop. My dessert of semifreddo with
salted carmel sauce was unusual and a fine choice. Total bill came to $90 for two apps each, 2 mains, 2 desserts and French Press decaf.

Pluses and minuses: Relatively small portions; but not skimpy either--we left feeling satisfied, but
not stuffed. Not handcap friendly--several stairs, even in ladies room. INteresting menu choices--
I'd be happy to come again and choose different apps and main courses--appealing choices for
both of us. Most negative aspect: quite dark at table, both for reading menu, and even for eating.
Romantic, but we would have appreciated more lighting. Small cavil--we had a lovely evening.
