Merguez sandwhich at Petra cafe....

mt | Nov 16, 2004 09:11 AM

Yesterday runnning around in the W. Village I decided to pop in to Mouman's for a kofta with babaganoush - the line was tremendously long. I noticed across the street a new place called Petra Cafe. Took a look at the menu and decided to try their merguez sandwhich ($6.00). The pita is freshly made - they pull it out of the oven still puffy. The sausage is nicely spiced - hints of cinnamon, fresh tomatoes and lettuce and tahini all wrapped in a warm pita. Some onion would have been nice. Oh - and it is huge - like a burrito huge. Will defintely go back and try variations and other dishes.
