What are you growing based on a particular favorite vegetable?
Last year I experimented with a lot of different peppers in an effort to grow my own Aleppo pepper. If I was going to try one new pepper, why not a whole bunch. I discovered I really don't care for the fruity flavor of habanero types that aren't too hot. Both of the two different Aleppo peppers I grew lacked the flavor of packaged pepper but recently I found a new seed source to try next year. But I did make some good hot sauces I will probably make again.
In the meantime, I liked the few shishito peppers I got from a single plant so this year I have six. Looking forward to trying some stir fry dishes using this pepper, not just the typical sesame and salt appetizer recipe.
There's a particular zucchini and potato gratin recipe that requires fresh Greek oregano.
And I need to dig out the basil mayonnaise recipe to make when I finally have fresh tomatoes from the garden.
What are your taste buds demanding you grow this year?
