I'm serving a main dish veg soup for dinner tonight. It's pretty hearty -- it has chick peas and a whole host of veg in it. I'm making Mark Bittman's whole wheat flat bread to go with it. My question is -- what would round out the meal? I'd prefer something vegetarian, and protein heavy. I have small kids, so spicy would not work. It can be incongruous ethnicity-wise (e.g. I was thinking Chinese dumplings, but I"m not sure I can pull that off tonight).
