Got a last minute resv at 7:30 for 3 & were seated right away on the heated patio. Smoking is allowed on the patio, so that can be a negative or a bonus, depending upon your habits. Sine we had our 13 year old with us, they warned us, but I figured she's eaten enough meals in Europe that this shouldn't be a big problem.
As usual, I had the best meal of the three (no one ever takes my advice on what to order...). Cornbread is served way too cold & dry. Daughter had the brie/smoked chicken quesadilla, which was flabby & greasy - not too appetizing. Husband had caesar salad (boring) & gumbo, which if you like yours thick & smoky, you'll love. We're more fans of Oysters style, so weren't so excited.
In spite of all the above, I had a great meal - house salad with a glass of Silverado Sav Blanc. This salad has changed from what I remember, but was still good. Then the hangar steak - wow! Not the slightly gamey taste like Mon Gabi, but so tender & flavorful - perfectly medium rare - just delicious. Potato side was great - scalloped, but without all the goo & each slice seemed to have been individually roasted, lovely & crunchy before being put together. Totally spacing onwhat the veg was, but it was good. Waitress suggested an Echelon Pinot Noir, which I was leery of, but turned out perfect. Entire meal with 1 or 2 martinis (don't know if my husband paid for his 1st at the bar or not) came to $70 w/out tip. Friendly, although overworked waitress. Just a great place to hang, people-watch & you gotta try tha Hangar Steak!
