In her report on a dim sum place in Melanie Wong spoke of bad chow fun she ate at House of Sichuan. That reminded me that last time I drove by the old Hunan (in the Traveler's Hotel on 11th and Franklin in Oakland) it looked closed.
I hadn't been there in the past couple of years since our office relocated to the boring part of downtown (20th and Broadway), but they used to have really great chow fun. It had green peppers, lots of onions, whole fermented black beans and a goodly quantity of beef or chicken.
I started craving chow fun and wondered if there's anywhere in the Downtown Oakland area to get it.
Last time I had chow fun was in Phoenix in February and it was almost inedible (was with a group of friends who chose the place).
