I was just getting a bottle of water, honestly, when I saw the new fruit salad. Its ok and a good alternative to most of the menu. It would due nicely as a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner dish.
Two types of sliced apples with skins, granny smith and a crispy red skinned variety, Theres a generous serving of red grapes and a little condiment cup of the yogurt that is in their parfait. I just wish the little pack of walnuts wasnt sugar coated. Would have been better plain.
Much better than most supermarket fresh fruit cups. Apples are better than the type used in the apple dippers which are more like crunchy Asian pears, that is, little apple flavor.
I bought it this morning and had it for dinner. Nothing had browned (yeah, thats probably not a good thing). Now Im thinking of getting one and seeing just how long it will last in the fridge.
However, if you are working a long day, you can put it in the fridge and have a nice little salad any time. Makes a decent breakfast too. Better than that sugary yogurt cup. Also nice for snacking on a long drive. No I do not work for McDonalds, Im just happy to have another healthier alternative on the menu.
It is not on their website yet, however I was amused to see a section with nutritional advice from Dean Ornish. No he did not say, dont eat here.
The McDonalds Gift store (McMerchandise) link is pretty hilarious. I guess they feel by selling golf bags, tees and balls with the McDonalds logo it will encourage us to get out on those greens and exercise. I know the Big Mac beach towel makes me want to run down to the beach for a swim.
Yeah, I want to give some 3 year old the Lets Go To McDonalds Game. I think it was Candyland that ruined my life diet wise.
Anyway, yes, I know there is better fruit salad elsewhere, but sometimes I just dont feel that chowish and am busy and this is a good option. Also nice when you are in unfamiliar territory and nothing else seems to be in site that you can get a decent fruit salad.
Anyway, it is healthier than the filet o fish ... mmm ... filet o fish.
