McCalls Winery- the beef, not the wine

EricMM | Aug 22, 201108:55 PM

Went to McCalls Winery in Cutchogue today. Enjoyed the tasting...wines ranged from typical NF to better than expected, although the best, a 2007 reserve pinot noir, was way out of my league in price. Still, as one who normally hates NF reds, it was a nice surprise. But my main reason for the post is the grass fed Charolais beef that they also sell (through the new market on Love Lane). We stopped at Love Lane Market afterwards, and they did have the beef. Very expensive- $35/lb for NY strip, $24/lb for skirt steak, and $4.95 for ground, which is reasonable, but its just burger meat. Has anybody tried it? As expensive as it is, I like the idea of organic 100% grass fed beef being raised in my own (summer) backyard, and would love to support the effort. But at that price, it had better taste good........
