Mayflower Friday night seafood buffet

Fellow Chowhounds, if you love seafood, NOTHING comes close to the Mayflower Hotel's Friday night seafood buffet. It was the former Washington Post food critic, Phyllis Richman, who turned me on to it. She said that it was the best value in town and she was right. For $39, you get all you want to eat of different varieties of seafood salads (shrimp, crab, calamari) jumbo shrimp already peeled, oysters and clams on the half shell, smoked trout, smoked salmon, fresh asparagus, grilled vegetables, tuna cooked right in front of you the way you specify, crab cakes, paella (containing huge scallops, shrimp, chunks of fish and sausage), New England clam chowder, sea bass, salmon, pasta and much more with a dessert table you won't believe. I don't know how they offer it for only $39. If you ordered an appetizer, entree and dessert in any fine restaurant, you would spend at least $39. Beware, though! It is easy to overeat and if you do, you'll pay for it later! By the way, they also slice filet of beef and have chicken dishes for those who don't care for seafood. Let me have your opinions and feedback if you've been there or heard about it.
