Mashpee / Falmouth fine dining (as fine as it gets)

My DC and I are foodies and great cooks, which makes us a bit jaded when it comes to dining out, because often we find we could make it better at home. As a part time Falmouth resident, I thought I'd share several recent experiences in the "can't cook it as well at home" category.

Bleu - We recently had a wonderfully memorable experience at Bleu in Mashpee Commons. Solid wine list with a wide range of prices and regions represented. My DC had an appetizer special of quail stuffed with foie gras that was so good we recommended that the chef increase the portion-size and make it an entree in the future. I had a special scallop appetizer, which was very tasty but not as memorable as the quail. For entrees, I had rabbit stew which was a special and so good I cleaned the plate and we both used the bread to sop up the gravy. My DC ordered the duck off the menu. His was also amazingly wonderful. The only shortcoming was the overcooked risotto that accompanied it.

For dessert, we had the apple tartin which was ok - how great can apple tartin ever be?

Being from the southern US, where the coffee is never translucent, I'm a hard to please coffee critic. Bleu's coffee was excellent, as were the complimentary truffles served with it.

Our server was knowledgeable and really seemed to care that we were having a good experience. She even asked if it was a special occasion. Our response was that great meals are always special and you don't need an occasion to have one.
