"Mashke haMelech" recipe help

SoCal Mother | Dec 29, 2011 02:26 PM

I was in the Machane Yehudah market and I tasted a wonderful drink called "Mashke ha Melech." (The King's Drink.) It is spicy and tastes alcoholic even though it isn't. It was served warm.

There was an ingredients list posted in the store but I'd like to try to recreate the recipe.

cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, "pilpelet" (cayenne pepper?), "chalitat gat" (gat tea) and parve chocolate.

What is "gat" tea and is it really a narcotic like my Israeli friend tells me?
