First, if you haven't been, go.
They've been open a few weeks and the pastries are really pretty wonderful. I've been to Café Tropical and don't like most of the pastries there. And then there's Backdoor Bakery. The quality is great, but I could send my kid to college with what a croissant and a coffee costs me. And the crowd can get a bit pretentious.
Now there's Masa. (On Sunset, don't know the address, across from the paint store)
The pastries are fantastic. Seriously, if you like almond croissants, there's nothing (including Backdoor) that tastes as good. I've had several things there. None of their desserts. Or their crepes (which may not be up-and-running yet). But the croissants are good. The brioche is fantastic. And the breads look stunning. And they're reasonable. Great for breakfast.
