What's going on with Maria's? I've been there 3 - 4 times, and I've had excellent rice and beans (and believe me, I'm picky with my rice and beans), fantastic chille rellenos, decent enchaladas and wonderful guacamole, ceviche and red snapper.
I've also had terribly uninspiring and overpriced specials, and once ordered there ceviche (for the second time, excellent the first time) that I swear was not "cooked" with lemon and lime, but cooked on a stove and mixed with jalopeno's and onion. I did not taste any lemon or lime at all.
The service is hit or miss, but always cordial and friendly. Sometimes they seem to be understaffed, other times overstaffed, so I'm sure this is something that they are trying to work out. The owners are wonderful and very gracious and friendly, and for this reason (and some excellent food), I'm going to have patience with the place and continue to frequent the place occasionally.
Oh, and I almost forgot, their Tiramisu, is the best that I've had in a city filled with mediocre to awful Tiramisu!
I'd love some suggestions on Sunset Park. Is the Mexican food their any good? Any suggestions? Thanks.
