Marianne's Ice Cream at Scoops in San Carlos

Pia | Aug 30, 200509:42 PM     5

Who was it who posted about Marianne's? Didn't someone mention peach ice cream? Or was that melon?

I had ignored this rather dowdly little ice cream parlor on Laurel Street until I saw a sign saying they served Marianne's. So, of course, I had try it--thus adding to my already overwhelming list of high-calorie vices.

Today, I went in again (despite having just devoured a very satisying shrimp-tomato-mozzarella tart at Laurel Street Cafe) and found that they have a seasonal peach ice cream, in addition to their usual peaches-and-cream. The peach ice cream had small chunks of real peach, and was quite nice. I've never had peach ice cream before, as I'm not a big fruit-flavored ice cream fan. I always head for the stuff with coffee, chocolate bits, nuts, and more chocolate--and Marianne's has an excellent selection of this type.

For the mid-Peninsula fans of Marianne's, Scoops is on the 700 block of Laurel Street, not far from the Bank of America, and they're usually open until around 9 pm.
