I was at St. Clair and Christie today and walked by a new food shop called Marcket Fine Foods. I went in to check it out. Lots of great stuff.
Research on their website revealed that the name represents the two owners: Marc something and Mark something.
Lots of prepared offerings in the display case (too many options to mention) and in the fridge/freezer (lasagna, soups, etc).
Looks like there are lots of local options. I picked up some:
* Niagara salami (from the Pingue family),
* cheese (Le Ciel de Charlevoix - soft blue cheese - AMAZING)
* Fanning's smoked salmon (never heard of it and Milbree was closed today (%#$^*) so I thought I would try it - I'll let you know)
* pakoras with a tamarind dipping sauce (all the prepared food are prepared on-site in the large open kitchen).
It's a great little shop and the owner is REALLY nice, so go by to check it out. Considering how many local options they have, I would really like to see them do well.
