We were very disappointed that one of our favorite restaurants - Marbella, in Stratford CT - has undergone a drastic change. The last time we were there - towards the end of the summer - we were told that they had a new Mexican chef and that he was coming in as a partner and they would feature more Mexican dishes (but keep much of the wonderful Spanish cuisine). We planned on going there for dinner last Saturday night, but when we called for reservations, we were informed that the only dish retained from the old menu was their Paella and that everything else was more or less informal Mexican. Additionally, because of the change, they would no longer accept reservations.
I always felt that Marbella was terribly underappreciated and I can understand the management's desire to have more mainstream (i.e. Mexican) food in lieu of their sophisticated Spanish dishes, but this is a terrible disappointment. I hope that the owners reconsider and bring back more of the food that we loved.
