Went to Mannequin Pis on Saturday. Nice drive to Olney from Northern VA, but the resturant is a bit hidden, so we drove past it by mistake.
Compared to other 3-star Washingtonian "Blue Ribbon" winners, the restuarant was very unassuming inside and out. No need to get dressed up.
The A/C was on too low for a mild spring evening, so we were quite warm.
Belgian beers were great. The mussels (mariniere) were excellent -- our Dutch friend said they rivaled those that she's had in Belgium. Good frites.
Service was not great. Our waiter was on the job only two days and he seemed to be serving the entire restaurant. He never submitted our first course order to the kitchen, so we could only judge the food on our entrees and desserts. Overall, the meal was average.
I probably will not return since the restaurant is so far and our meal was just okay. But our Dutch friend said she'd return OFTEN just for the mussels.
Too bad we went on a "off" night.
