Manitou Station - White Bear Lake

I work in WBL and I'm always looking for new lunch spots. Manitou Station caught my eye one day a month or so back as I was driving up Highway 61. It is a rather large place on the corner of 4th and 61 in downtown WBL.

The space is quite, well...spacious. Very high ceilings, 10 or so seat bar with quite a bit of table seating.

I've been in twice for lunch and my meals went as follows:

1) Reuben - Not bad tasting, but very much lacking in meat. I'm not expecting a Carnegie Deli-like tower of meat here, but the portion didn't even fill the (semi-soggy) bread. Probably won't order this again. Steak fries were pretty good.

2) Cheeseburger - This was an odd experience. The burger itself was incredibly dense, like a brick. I mentioned this to the bartender, as I found the texture to be way off. He mentioned that they ground their meat in house, which makes the final product even more disappointing. To me, a burger needs to be formed just enough to keep it together. Probably won't go this road again either.

Two disappointing trips so far. I really would like this place to work, as WBL is in desperate need of something simple, good and non-chain. Maybe they will get better as time goes by...we'll see.
