Manhattan hound needs recs for business dinner

Jonathan Saw | Oct 21, 200501:57 PM     7

Hi -

Coming into town for a meeting and will be having dinner before hand. Any suggestions? Near or convenient to the Fairmont Hotel is great.

Not terribly expensive but not cheap. I was thinking Blackbird, maybe NOMI...

Anything new out there?

For atmosphere: I need cool but not too scene-y; upscale but not snooty or stuffy (Pump Room is out).

For food:
Knowing who I'm having dinner with, all types of food are great, except Mexican, and probably Asian, (Asian-fusion is fine.)

I'm willing to sacrifice to a certain extent on atmosphere, if the food is great, but can't do the whole in the wall places this time around.
