Mangosteen ban lifted [moved from L.A. board]

The ban has been lifted on numerous fruits from Thailand including Mangosteen, Lychee, Longan, and Rambutan. These fruits are all going to be imported fresh in the near future. The catch is that they are all going to be irradiated before import. What this means (besides the fruit getting a dose of radiation) is that there is a good chance that you will find live fruit fly larvae in your fruit when you cut it open, but they will all be sterile.

The fruit will start coming in as soon as some of the sites in Thailand get up to speed on the regulations. I'm hearing as soon as two months from now.
