Mandarin Deli in Chinatown

I had the best noodle dish there yesterday for lunch. It was the Spicy Beef with Homemade Noodles. The broth was rich, and you could really taste the beef. It had large chunks of very tender shortrib meat, a good portion of noodles and some cilantro sprinkled on the top. Although it was titled “spicy”, it wasn’t very spicy at all. It had a few red pepper flakes hidden in the broth, but they were more accent than spice. Maybe it was because I’m white and they didn’t think I would like it spicy. Anyway, it was a delicious dish. It was listed in the menu at $6.95, but the waitress only charged me $6.50, with tax. You also get free Jasmine tea.

Next time I’m going to try the dumplings.

727 N. Broadway
