Making Masa - What's Traditional...Posole or Flint/Dent Corn?

I'm hoping to grind my own - my confusion lies in whether I need flint/dent corn or posole. I'm confused as to what's the difference between the two and which is traditionally used to make masa.
Fwiw, I'm going to make tortillas with it.
