Making chana masala: converting canned chickpeas to dry?

As the title indicates, I'm attempting to make chana masala. The recipe I have calls for a 15 oz. can of chickpeas, but I'm going to soak some dry chickpeas instead. What's the equivalent (preferably in cups) of a 15 oz. can? Thanks!
