Georges' it was today--formerly Le Mas, George Perrier's newest venture off Lancaster Ave, in Spread Eagle Village Shopping Center, in Wayne.

Choice of three areas for seating--cheery but noisy greenhouse area; somewhat dark lounge, and a few tables inbetween that were less dark, but very private and quiet.

Best Clam Chowder ever, as only Perrier can do it: very rich, creamy puree with sweet basil infusion; "North Country Smokehouse applewood bacon and Yukon Gold Potatoes. Presentation included two whole clams in the shell, garnished with the bacon and potatoes. Visually stimulating; taste out of this world. INtense clear clam flavor. $9, and worth it.

My entree was lobster and artichoke sandwich served on a homemade croissant with yummy shoestring potatoes--$12. Upscale French lobster roll--every morsel on the plate, including a small salad a pleasure.

Hot entrees from $15-$19; 8 oz black angus burger, $11, with two gourmet toppings; my friend had Wayne chopped salad, $11, with avocados, apples, same wonderful bacon, blue cheese, red onions, cucumbers, with buttermild roasted garlic dressing. She loved it, but was more virtuous than I.

We didn't have time for dessert, but the $8 choices were intriguing. Decaf was perfect--strong, hot, satisfying even without sugar.

Service was friendly more than polished; our waitress didn't know the answers to some of our questions, and had to find out.

Place a winner for a special occasion--like quiet fun lunch, that is quite different, but not at all formal.
