maestro's - continues to impress

kj's | Nov 11, 200512:23 PM

went to maestro's last saturday with eight others to celebrate. I've eaten at maestro's at least 6 times over the last few years and with limited exception, I've been impressed with the service and food - i cannot comment on the price - i'm always freeloading the meals off others, though, i do bring the wine. In my last visit, we were informed that the corkage policy was, if you buy one of their bottles, you can bring as many of your own bottles as you wish. on this recent visit, we did not have to buy a bottle, nor did they charge us a corkage fee...i was impressed !

with nine people, we basically had everything on the menu. the standout items were the pretzel bread , the lobster mashed potatoes, all the steaks were awesome ( i had the bone-in rib-eye with the blue cheese/olive oil/garlic sauce - i love that stuff ! ) - the creamed corn and the creamed spinach had a little too much cream for my taste but the others loved it and the desserts were good but none of them wowed me but then again, i don't expect to be wowed by desserts at a steakhouse.

and of course, the people watching - saw magic johnson ( he is one big dude ! ) and jamie foxx - he seemed to walk around with this look like - hey everyone, i'm here, do you see me ??...whatever...

still, i need to hit the other new steak places that seem to pop up every other week...
