Having dinner tonight at Ko, and was early so I stopped at Macaron Parlour on St. Mark's Place to pick up some treats for the weekend. Picked out a dozen macarons (including the insane Candied Bacon with Maple Cream Cheese). The macarons were packed in the most crush-proof box I've seen. My other flavors are: lemon, tiramisu, red velvet, caramel fleur de sel, hazlelnut, and "party time"--salted milk chocolate & dulce de leche. Just when I thought I was done, I noticed that they also have other baked goods. I bought their Kouign Amann which was divine-sugary crunchy on the outside with the rich moist layers on the inside. I thought I would just taste it since I'm pretty full from the delicious dinner at Ko tonight, but I couldn't help myself and ate the whole thing--so good! (I still haven't been lucky enough to try the DKA at Dominique Ansel since the only time I was there they were sold out so I can't compare). I also bought their speculoos cookie and the chocolate chip cookie--saving these for tomorrow. I was only familiar with Macaron Parlour from when they were at the Madison Square Park food fair, but I think I'll be visiting their boutique in the East Village regularly.
