I returned today from a week in Philadelphia. For the five days 8-12 July I lunched at Morimoto once, at Striped Bass twice and the Fountain at Four Seasons twice.
Morimoto where I had 50 dollar omakase was disappointng.
The food is very Americanized and the noted Black Cod was so mushy it could not be fresh. I would never return.
The other two were surprisingly good. I liked the ambience at the Fountain better. Striped Bass prices were great value. I would happily return to either one with an edge to the Fountain. Philadelphia is fortunate to have these two restaurants which compare very favorably with restaurants in NYC, LA and SF.
