Went to lunch yesterday with a friend at Tazza coffee shop in Brooklyn Heights. I ordered a mushroom herb quiche, which came with a small portion of greens with a light dressing, and he had a prosciutto and cheese sandwich on country bread. Overall, I was disappointed. The service was fine, and it was pleasantly quiet, but the food was not well executed. The bread of my friend's sandwhich was overly dry, and it was mostly lettuce -- only one thin layer of proscuitto graced the center.
My quiche was nicely herbed, but oily, almost greasy. The cheese had a velveeta-like consistency. The dressing on the greens was uninspired and bland.
We finished our lunch with espresso. Two arrived without any crema, and no sign of the emulsified coffee oils floating on the surface. Not surprisingly, they had a bitter, over-extracted flavor.
