I'm looking for a restaurant near-ish to SNA to take out-of-towners. Good food, hole-in-the-wall strip mall is fine. Prefer casual, as I'm taking my niece paddleboarding before picking up retiree parents at SNA in time for lunch. I looked at old posts, but they were like 5+ years old.
We will be driving north afterwards on the 57, so better if it's that direction, but detouring to, say, Garden Grove is fine.
I'm looking for a place that would suit both adventurous (niece) and super-conservative (midwestern parents). I was thinking Vietnamese, even just great banh mi or pho. (The perfect place I've taken them in the past is Din Tai Fung in Arcadia--completely "accessible" food that's still a novelty that takes advantage of being in SoCal.) They are not foodies. Doesn't even have to be Vietnamese, just something that takes advantage of where we'd be that day.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
