Went to lunch at Balvo

Thanks for the tips. I gotta say I wasn't totally freaked out by the orange ball. I get what they're going for as far as the modern Italian thing, I've seen similar in Italy but the branding is definately way out of hand. And, really, what's up with the "retail" area? I cannot stand places that not only put everything behind glass but don't list the prices anywhere so you have to ask. I mean, it's pasta not jewelry.
Anyway, on to the food. My friend and I shared the chx liver pate which, although more like a mousse was delish. I had the calamari which were very nice, charred on the ends but tender, and the eggplant was good with it. We both ordered pastas which, while tasty, weren't really worth $14. I'd say maybe $9 or $10. They were good, but not THAT good. We split tiramisu for dessert which was tasty but I am a stickler for the espresso soaked ladyfingers and I don't think genoise cake is a good substitute.
Overall, you know, fine. Nothing terrible, nothing great. A bit overpriced.
