Lumiere review

I had posted last week asking for advice on where to take my wife for our anniversary. Meritage sounded so great until I realized they aren't open on Sundays! But that one is definitely on the list for another time. Anyway, we live in the western 'burbs so decided to make the quick trip to West Newton and go to Lumiere. We had a wonderful meal! Rolls were warm and delicious. I know nothing about wine, but they seemed to have a good selection of by the glass, half bottle, and full bottle. I had the scallop and wild mushroom appetizer, and I was very close to licking my plate after I was that good! My wife had a dish of Maine mussels that were out of the shell and served in some kind of delicious light sauce/broth that I am forgetting. She was mopping up every last drop with her bread. Then for an entree I had a Niman Ranch pork chop served with a squash puree and some kind of apple/cranberry accompaniment, and it was wonderful, the meat tender and flavorful. My wife had monkfish for the first time and found it to be delicious. The waitress provided a very good description of what it would taste like, which was much appreciated! Service was very good overall. No dessert b/c we had the top of our wedding cake to eat when we got home. Prices are what you would find at a nice place in Boston, but I thought the food was on a par with those restaurants. I would definitely recommend it...just my two cents!
