Ahhh a delicious meal at a new place. What a great way to combat those rainy weather blues! After much discussion and reading of reviews on Chowhound, we decided to try Lucca in the North End Saturday night. We started off with a wonderful antipasti dish. It was anchored with a delicious rock shrimp salad consisting of julienned cucumber and carrot, tossed with the shrimp in a lovely tart vinaigrette. Surrounding the salad was a hunk of marinated Portobello mushroom, a slice of fresh mozzarella, kalamata olives, seared tuna, a mascarpone stuffed cherry pepper, and soppressata. The contrast in flavors, spices, and textures all worked together to form a lovely opening dish. My husband chose the osso bucco which I never got to try as he finished it too quickly all the while commenting (between bites) about how wonderful it was! Ill have to be quicker with my fork next time :) As for my main, I had linguine served with Maine crab meat, tiny littleneck clams, snow peas, and tomatoes in a white wine sauce it was a fantastic dish. The pasta was prepared perfectly a little over al dente and very fresh. The slight crunch of the snow peas paired wonderfully with the crab meat and clams. Unfortunately, was not able to finish it all (and took it home, great leftovers) as I already had my eye on the dessert bread pudding is my favorite! It provided the perfect finish to our evening. All in all, a wonderful evening in the North End.
