Went to Luella again last night, and it continues to shine. The host was wonderful, service was personal, professional, and attentive without being intrusive.
Had the watermelon salad (watermelon, toasted pine nuts, fresh mint, lime juice, feta and cayenne) and the artichoke soup with shaved pecorino. Both wonderful.
For mains, we had the fresh halibut with beurre blanc and asparagus, with fresh herbs and some kind of bulgur wheat salad sprinkled on top (light and perfectly cooked), and the signature filet with stilton and sauteed spinach.
We also had 2 glasses of wine (under $10) recommended by the server, and shared the ricotta fritters drizzled with orange honey.
The total for dinner and wine, before tip, was $98.
The atmosphere is so pleasant - low, mellow music, soft lighting, cable car going by outside, casual and special at the same time. There's a small bar area in front where I would feel very comfortable having dinner as well. It's a great spot - I am just kicking myself for not having tried it sooner.
