Why I Love Chowhounds

Have I ever been steered wrong by a chowhound? I think NOT! Rather, whenever I let myself be steered by the unerring wisdom of the collective 'hound stomach, my course is straight and true. Why, in recent days and weeks I've been to Pho Xe Lua and Angkor (among other fine establishments) based on recommendations from this board. Both excellent, of course. Hooray for the Hounds!

And tonight-- tonight, my wife and I went to that popular favorite, Overtures. It was excellent. There's not much I can add to the kudos that has been heaped upon it already, but really, can that $20 prix fixe be beat? Again, I think not. We each got that (roasted red pepper soup and duck confit for me; braised leeks and filet mignon for the missus; a selection of pastry goodness for the both of us). Add on an extra appetizer to share (as recommended here, their fine, fine pate; them geese and veals did not die in vain!), and the whole thing, including a pretty generous tip, came to like $60. And after we had a discussion with the waiter about how much we liked the brownies, he came out with a couple extra in a doggie bag (just in case we had a midnight craving...)

OK, that's enough of the Overtures love fest. But again, mad props to all those who have pointed me to many a tasty meal here in Philly. Thanks!
