Lotus Garden on Mission and 30th is owned by a husband and wife team who are incredibly service oriented and friendly. The food is quite good, albeit perhaps not earth shattering good (although I think the raw beef salad is earth shattering good), but it is the service where this restaurant distinguishes itself from the many other good Vietnamese restaurants in town. They have been quite unlucky in that they got a good review-- 2 1/2 stars from the Chronicle--right before 9/11 so the good press didn't do them much good.
A few of us who are fans of the place are trying to keep its doors open and we decided to organize a dinner on August 13th at 7:30 pm. A friend of mine is posting in the same vein on Craigslist to get posters from that community to attend as well. He eats at Lotus Garden at least once a week.
If you are interesting in helping to keep a neighborhood restaurant open, please send me an email.
This is not a chowhound event.
