Nowadays, when the word 'Brunch' was mentioned to me. Unremarkable, commonplace and very often 'boring' dishes like Eggs Benedict, French Toast, Smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted bagel, Belgian waffles....etc immediately come to mind.
Therefore, our visit to L&E and seeing a brunch menu that offered sophisticated and saliva inducing creations, sans afore-mentioned mediocrity, was a welcoming eye-opener.
- " Beef shank, sherry glaze, Baby Carrots, Pearl Onion, Braised Fennel, Pickled Fennel Stalk, Buttermilk Biscuits, Fried Eggs " - "Tete de Cochon, Marinated Aubergines, Pattypan Squash, Cheery Tomatoes ",
- " Sunnyside Cage Free Duck Egg Hash, Duck Confit, Shallots, Yukon Gold Potato, Black Truffle Vinaigrette "
- "Pork Belly Benedict, Red Eye Hollandaise, Slaw, English Muffin, Organic Werp Farm Greens , Fine Herbs, Sea Salt, Green Goddess Dressing"
- " Wild Boar Sloppy Joe, Crispy Sage & Onion, Pickled Jalapeno, Sesame Seed Bun "
.......to name a few we ordered.
In short, this must be the most impressive and delicious 'brunch' I have had anywhere...except may be at the Michelin 2* 'Spoon' in Hong Kong. Homey, rustic, sophisticated, the food at L&E was so tasty, my wife requested that we change our eating itinerary and pay it another visit a few days later!
