After reading many positive posts about Ariels, the small Italian restaurant on 46th Street in Sunnyside, I took a friend there tonight. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the garlic rolls for a while, but we ordered our food at 8:15 (we arrived at 8:05) and finally left at 9:40 without having gotten our food (except for one small salad). I had not eaten since 1:00 pm and at that point, I was beyond hunger. I absolutely hate to walk out on a restaurant after ordering -- I think I only did it one other time in my life -- but I felt we had no choice. The waitress had been apologetic, saying they were short-handed, but after almost 90 minutes, we just could not wait any longer. We ended up at a Korean place around the corner.
Has anyone else had this experience there? Should I assume they were just having a terrible night and give them another try sometime when I have the courage (and am not too hungrey...?)
