Lone diner in search of a decent meal in NJ

h.a.b. | Dec 16, 2015 05:47 PM

I travel to the Hackensack/Hasbrough Heights part of NJ for work on a regular basis. I've tried desperately to find a decent restaurant and failed miserably. Hoping some of you can help. I'm always dining alone so somewhere with a bar would be preferred but I don't mind sitting at a table alone with a book. (I'm a young professional female - from Austin, TX - so sitting at the bar is sometimes not the best experience anyways.) I typically prefer farm-to-table restaurants who source local/fresh ingredients and I'm open to all cuisines. I'd prefer someplace with a decent wine selection and on the casual fine-dining side of the spectrum.

The only places that I've found in the area are either out of the 80's with decor and food creativity, or chains.

Please help! I always have a rental car and am willing to drive a reasonable distance
