The waiter was an assistant chef who was 'just flying on my personality'. He said 'excellent', 'amazing' and 'brilliant' a lot, and was a pleasant person. The look-at-me decor and the heavily present barmy factor reminded me of Chinon in Shepherd's Bush. £29 for 3 courses

free tasters

mustard seed soup- er interesting (sweet) 5/10
vegetable sushi roll- very fresh tasting 8/10

starter

garden pea, chervil and pumpkin soup- 8/10 (couldn't taste pumpkin but pea taste was nice- would have preferred without cream)

main

'MVH quartet'
slice of quiche with truffle on top 6/10
some sort of tomato and leaves salad with tomato sorbet 4/10 (dressing was not very nice, sorbet looked like a peeled plum tomato, but tasted like frozen tomato juice)
palm hearts stuffed with puy lentils with a beetroot compote 7/10
some sort of Japanese seaweed soup with funny noodles/starch bits in it 6/10 (put off by worry about meat content, unusual taste)

free sorbets

lemongrass- served in a half lime 5/10 (unexciting lemon taste)
basil and kiwi- served in a half kiwi- flavour combination 'worked' but was not mind blowing 6/10
passion fruit- served in a half passion fruit 9/10

dessert

upside down spiced pudding 5/10 well presented but apart from ice cream was nothing special taste wise-

free chocolates

6/10
