stopped into lola before a film last week. as someone noted in the lola brunch thread, our service, too, was.... odd. disarmingly awkward, might best describe it. anyway, our server walked us thru the menu and noted that the entrees were "huge".
would ordering a few small plates and splitting an entree fill us up, i axed?
o yes, indeed, she said.
she was wrong.
we started out with the feta spread -- no great shakes served with some grilled pita. our bread must have fallen, by mistake i sure, into a vat of olive oil.
stuffed grape leaves were minty and nice, but again, nothing outrageous, esp considering they are expensive.
the grilled lamb kebabs were fine, mine were tender and tasty, but my companion complained of tough, gristly meat.
our seafood tagine arrived and yeah, we were underwhelmed by the portion. even for one, a single prawn, a single scallop and a few chunks of fish does not feed a grwon american man...
