What a (mostly) wonderful experience! And while we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, I have to think the real magic happens at night with equally stellar views of both the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Cour.

They seated us in the Terrace Garden which at first took me by surprise because it wasn’t the main dining room. The weather was so absolutely perfect that we really didn’t mind ...

The menu is the same as currently on the web site with the exception of a wonderful trout entre that both of us ordered. When they brought out that course, however, the bees descended from pollinating the nearby plants and bushes to literally swarming us. Maria would have nothing of it and they swept us off to the dining room (in retrospect, we got the best of both worlds!!).

We both finished the trout which was absolutely delicious. As for the plat, my obstinance led me to try the pigeon - and while no regrets because I found the dish interesting and complex, the meat was just too gamey for my tastes. Maria opted for the cod which, alternatively, she found delightfully simple but with the freshest of ingredients. She loved every minute of it so on that front all good!

Our deserts also beautiful and delicious ... I slid into raspberry heaven! Coffees and a delightful cake finished the meal ... and we ultimately ended up closing the room to ourselves which was nice if only for a brief moment.

All in all an exceptional experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a splurge meal ... and really lunch at €75 per person a really good value. The Peninsula Hotel just gorgeous ... the restaurant as well. And the service absolutely delightful.

Merci to Parn for the recommendation ... a trip highlight for sure.

Today hopefully Creatures and Le Caulaincourt.

So loving on Paris!
