For a while I had been enjoying Maytag Blue Cheese (Newton, IA.) Then they basically doubled their prices and I thought, "Screw them. There have to be some other viable options." I found St. Pete's (Faribault, MN) and thought it a good substitute. Along the way I heard Trader Joe's "Caved Aged Blue Cheese" was being produced by St Pete's (although, I've been trying to confirm this and can't) and the TJ's was indeed a convenient, tasty, and cheap substitute. Recently, however, the TJ's, with nasty, harsh tones, has been trailing off. Any suggestions for a high-quality, reasonably priced local blue?
