We had another great meal at this little BYOB in our neighborhood.
The menu is small, but everything on it is terrific.
This time my husband and the other guy ordered the soup special: red bean soup. I would never order this soup - usually - but I would after tasting my husband's. It was thick, rich, full of vegetables, and tasted divine.
Other appetizers were the fresh anchovies on salad, and the special appetizer of the day - poached quail eggs on toast croutons topped with mushroom slivers, truffle shavings, and other wonderful ingredients/flavors.
For entrees, I had to fight hard to resist one that I love here: the roast chicken. It is always moist and flavorful, and comes with thin strips of potato and carmelized onion, and (last time) mini brussel sprouts. That chicken is exceptional!
But instead, I had the pasta with mushrooms and asiago cheese and it was great. The others had the pasta with clams, which they sopped up with the good bread/rolls.
For dessert, my husband and I shared Capogiro gelato. Our friends had the fruit tart, which was over a lemony cheese filling; they said it was delicious.
We think this is as good as any of the other Italian restaurants we frequent, and better than most. Casual, informal. It's at 2025 Fairmount Ave. It's Chowhound-worthy!
