Restaurants & Bars

lobster in southern maine

My family has had a home in Old Orchard Beach for 60 years. But I am terrible about restaurant names or roads; I just know where I'm going and recognize the place.

I like Bayley's at the end of Grand Ave. in Pine Point. And Clambake on Rte. 9.

I've never been, but my folks like Dunstan School House on rte. 1 in Scarborough. Buffet, lobster $7.95 extra. Course my folks also prefer margarine.

Cascade Inn seems a bit tourist-trappy, but okay food and service.

My mom likes the Portland restaurant on a ship in the harbor; pricy, but again, decent food and service. DeMillo's?

But mostly, we cook at the house, except for lobster or a lunch on a trip to Freeport or gettng a sandwich at a shop we can walk to.

My mom and I had a lovely breakfast at Joseph's by the sea, Grand Ave. OOB.

pricy, my mom complained how expensive it was, but the waitress was very good to her, providing proper milk for her tea. It was open very early 6am? and only 2 groups in the place. I make my mom adjust the tip up for a waitress only having 1 or 2 tables on her 1st hour on shift.

Do go to OOB; it is the most fabulous beach; 7 miles! They also have a minor league baseball team. Yes, lots is honky tonk, but the beach!

And Portland Headlight and Two lights. what else? lol harness racing at Scarborough Downs.

And try candlepin bowling.

And hey, yes Biddeford is working class, but good people. And good food.
