Live Dungeness from Moss Landing

Melanie Wong | Nov 22, 2005 09:19 PM

We stopped at Moss Landing today on the way home to see if anyone was selling local crabs at the dock and found the Tina Louise and Beticia open for business. The crabs are $8 each, and while I was told they averaged 2 lbs. each, the two I got were smaller than that I think. We steamed them at home. These were extremely lively and feisty. One was sweeter than the other, glad we bought two. The shells were thinner and softish, easily breakable with my fingers and not needing to use a cracker for the most part. Now that I've had my first crab of the season, I think I'll wait a bit for the next one.
