All of us are into fine foods. Do you listen to the restaurant managers' recommendations? I know many of you listen to the chef's recommendations. What about managers' recommendations?
Now, I don't mean recommendations like "Soup or the Day" or "St. Patrick Special Burger" on a chalkboard. I mean something more personal, like the manager comes up to you and make a specific recommendation. And I don't mean recommendations which make you spend significantly more money. I have many times received meal recommendations which actually made me spend less money.
For example, I had placed an order for a pizza with certain toppings, and the manager would say "you should try this topping instead", or I had used certain BBQ sauce on my barbecue, and the manager/owner came by and recommended me to try another sauce, or very often in Chinese restaurants, the managers would come up and make recommendation to change my dish. They would usually say something like "I just got this batch of live fish came in today. You should give this a try." or "You should have this stir fried in XO sauce, not minced garlic sauce"
So do you usually take the recommendations and change your order? Or do you usually know what you want and say "thank you, may be another time"?
I like to hear your answer and your experience. Thanks.
