Decided to his this Friday night as I wanted meat, wanted to sit at a bar & split something, it was late & all the bars we usually sit at to split (Bungalow, Gulfstream, etc) were full, and... I had a $20 off coupon that had been burning a hole in my wallet for ages.
Ordered the Crown salad - good, not exciting, but good. Split the Henry VII ($38) cut w/ a lobster tail side ($10). Mashed potatoes/gravy were ok, creamed spinach boring - not as good as I remembered, (horror of horrors) my favorite popover was dried out & cold - not warm & no yummy eggy dough to pull out, but by then we had already complained about the lobster tail, which was mushy & thought I'd done enough complaining for the evening. Lobster tail was a decent size, but texture all wrong - it was replaced with a much smaller, over-cooked, but non-mushy tail. Henry VII cut was a huge bone-on thick cut, but there really wasn't all that much edible meat on it - Maybe about 8 good bites, then rest was the tough stuff around the bone. Service by bartender was great, but view of rubber back bar floor no so great. Total - $105 w/ 3 glasses Freemark Cab & 1 Martini - less the $20 coupon - $85, which they took, even though I noticed later that the area code was (714), so it was really really old!
