"We need to ENCOURAGE endlessly recurring conversation on all topics covered therein; that's the only way we can keep our info fresh (the chow scene is in constant flux and we aim to track it!) and draw out new tips from new faces who come around. That's best for our resource, even though such repetition may seem tiresome to the .1% who visit very frequently.
So we ask everyone not to use this tip sheet dismissively ("that question is answered in the tip sheet", "read the tip sheet before you post", etc etc). Any newbie poster directed to this page should also be welcomed and wished well re: their posted query, and recommended to the tip sheet as simply another useful resource ...in addition to whatever new information is elicited by their query."

Also thanks to Paul Homchick who really did as much, if not much, much more, work on this than I did to get the tip sheet linked and on Chowhound.
Thanks to Melanie for her many suggestions and Nancy Berry as well.
Many of the suggestions for changes to the tip sheet did not make it into this version. Yes, Noe Valley is ignored. There was a concern that making too many changes might prevent the linked version from getting published at all. Instead much of the energy went into making sure the links were correct and there were no major errors in the sheet.
Everyone's excellent suggestions were not ignored however. I am keeping a list of updates to the tip sheet and they will make it into the next version.
Barring any major site changes, this will probably get updated every six months or so to keep links fresh, add new restauarants and take places off that are no longer with us.
